R&D - SSDR

We have developed our own version of SSDR based on Smooth Skinning Decomposition with Rigid bones (Binh Le and Zhigang Deng, 2012). We use this to convert our blendshape-based facial rigs to joint-based rigs. We can use any joint pattern as input and optimise it for multiple platforms and LODs. We can add accessory joint set-ups too. In this video we use RMS analysis to show the fidelity across multiple joints. We can solve for transforms and weights, free transforms or locked to surface, weights only, transforms only, and for weight localisation.
